SCOTLANDS FIRST MINISTER ALEX SALMOND OPENS THE "CLACKMANNANSHIRE BRIDGE". 19th NOVEMBER 2008. The £120 million pound bridge is between Fife and Falkirk and is in addition to the existing Kincardine Bridge. Kincardine village itself gets thousands of cars every day heading for the Kincardine Bridge and with the new Clackmannanshire Bridge the traffic will be very much lighter.
The new Clackmannanshire Bridge will also benefit those wishing access to the motorway network.
The petitions and requests for the new Clackmannanshire Bridge span back more than twenty (20) years and can do nothing but good for the local areas concerned. Obvious benefits include safer roads and less localised pollution.
The new Clackmannanshire Bridge will allow high sided vehicles to move freely even under strong winds, unlike the Forth Road Bridge which sometimes is forced to close for high sided vehicles because of extreme weather conditions.
The map shows the old route advised from Fife to Falkirk and although this can and will be used the new bridge is expected to take the bulk of the heavy traffic.
