SCOTLANDS PATRON SAINT.

SCOTLANDS PATRON SAINT.

SCOTLANDS PATRON SAINT is ST.ANDREW.
St. Andrew, Patron Saint of Scotland. - St. Andrew, one of the Christian Apostles and brother of Simon Peter, was born at Bethsaida on the Lake of Galilee and lived in Capernaum. He preached the Gospel in Asia Minor and in Scythia along the shores of the Black Sea and became the patron saint of Russia. It is believed that he suffered crucifixion at Patras in Achaea, on a crux decussata (now known as St. Andrew's cross) and that his relics were removed from Patras to Constantinople and then to St. Andrews, probably in the 8th century, since which time he has been the patron saint of Scotland. The festival of St. Andrew is held on November 30th, a church festival indicated in the calendar by Red Letters.
Red Letter days are very important in keeping our heritage alive;
This is when Scarlet Robes are worn by the Judges of the Queen's Bench Division at the sittings of a Criminal Court and on all State Occasions.
For example here are a few well known Red Letter Days;
Queen's Birthday
Ascension Day
Coronation Day
All Saints
Lord Mayors Day
St.Andrew
St.Mark
St. Peter
